Unreleased Materials Vol. 1 is an album by Mandrake. It is half of a set of official releases that cover the band's material, until then only available through illegal audience recordings.

25 March 1997 (1997-03-25) Marquee, Belle Antique CD BELLE 97343 The package design was meant to emulate old bootleg releases (plain colored sleeve, rustic typography).[5] Copies purchased via mail order came with Deranged Door (錯乱の扉 Sakuran no Tobira?) 1, a bonus booklet containing the beginning halves of a memoir by Hirasawa covering his life when Mandrake was active, and an interview between him and Yasuhiro Nakano (with interjections by Marquee magazine editor-in-chief Masayuki Matsumoto). Office Mecano conducted mail order purchases, both nationally and internationally, through e-mail.[6]
2 February 2006 (2006-02-02) Chaos Union, Teslakite CHTE-0035 Released with new package design by Kiyoshi Inagaki.[7] The memoir part of Deranged Door 1 is included in the album's booklet proper. A Young Person's Guide to Mandrake 1973-1978, a bonus booklet containing the complete, unedited Hirasawa×Nakano×Matsumoto interview, could be acquired, until February 2013,[8] if the album was purchased simultaneously with Unreleased Materials Vol. 2 from Shop Mecano.

  1. ↑ Takahasi is uncertain of the recording's provenance and guesses it is of a live performance,[1] but it appears to circulate among traders as a demo.[2] It could be sourced from a cassette Hirasawa attempted to auction with other Mandrake items on 10 January 1987.[3][4]
